  • Activity updates
    • Daryl --- He is basically finished with the ADC board updates, and will do a final check and send them to Michael on Monday. He had sent the new bill of materials to Michael on this past Monday.
      • The prototypes may not ready for the next Mainz tests, but should be at least available for testing in Oct?Nov to be ready for the production run to start in December
      • I ask if we still have the option of building some of the boards with the single-ended inputs
        • Yes. Daryl recommends that we verify that the BCM/BPM receiver DAC outputs can handle 50ohm termination, and to understand what the signal levels will be
    • Bryan --- He is starting with William's TI-bridge setup. He had some signal distribution issues that he has now cleared up, and the ADC module is now receiving and processing the triggers. His next step will be to look at Bryerton's stand-alone system to understand how that system is transferring the data and to see how to reuse that for the CODA setup
    • Paul --- The fiber install between ISB and CHA for the TI-bridge had gotten paused due to an issue with the contract, but that is almost resolved and the work is due to start next week or so. Should still be done in this accelerator down period
    • Discussion of if we need to make the board slightly narrower. Daryl could shave off a mm or so, if needed. I'll send a message to check Armen and Chris if it is worth making that change, or just leave it the same
    • Discussion of the cooling: We may keep the 1U spacing between units to allow the fan to exhaust through the top, or if we want to be able to stack them directly and have airflow to the side. We could try to do some tests with one of the prototypes to see if we want to use on of the extra fan headers and add an exhaust fan to one of the sides.
    • Discussion of the prototype order: Michael will check which groups would want one, and figure out if more than 5 are needed. Michael may need some extra funding if we need more than the minimum order of five (about $5k per extra board).
    • Michael asked about how to spec the fibers for the HVMAPS readout. Paul expects that the Arisa switch would be in the SBS bunker, and so the fibers for the HVMAPS would be high-density trunk cables of 75-100 meters in length which would then breakout into the SFP connectors at either end. Paul needs to follow up with Chris on the GEM fiber cables and they will also discuss the ones for the HVMAPS.
