Minutes

  • Probir: I will provide a list of materials and their locations to the ferrous material study group for confirming their use in the Moller setup.
  • Devi: Presented a comparative study (between old and new geometry) for the LAM.
  1. The new geometry has a split collar 2, the drift pipe.
  2. With the new geometry, the LAM electrons and pion rates (both primary and secondary) are higher (~x2) than the previous geometry using the PMTShielding branch.
  3. The excess rate is due to mainly secondaries produced in the upstream part of collar 2 and from the downstream flange of the drift pipe (~50% of the excess rate). These are due to secondary particles with lower energies.
  4. A simulation study with larger flange IR, shows a reduction of secondary background for the LAMs.
  5. A detailed statistical analysis of the effect of secondary on counting statistics is presented. Suggestions from KK regarding a better way of calculating the statistical width.
  6. Dustin: Since the secondary particles will be at a different angle than the primaries, the optical photon yield from secondaries would be suppressed, and hence any analysis considering all secondaries would give an upper bound of the noise.
  7. Dave Kashy: We can increase the flange IR if that is required. Mark: We are not sure yet whether that is absolutely required.
  8. Cip: Most likely, the new geometry misses the collar1, Devi should pull the latest developed branch (where the overlap issues are resolved) and simulate it again.
  9. We decided to keep the drift pipe IR at the present IR values.
  • Dave Kashy: Provided a list of the Halla floor steel material to the physicists to implement in the simulations.
  1. Cip: talked about it in the ferrous material study group, and it seems not very important. But, this is on our plate.
  • Eric: Any decision was made regarding the 16 bellow at the target region.
  1. Cip: There were some communications with Dave Meekins, and we update on that soon.
