Agenda

  • Activity updates

Simona's beginning work on the counting-mode test stand https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4210059

Bob's setup for digital BCM https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4196805

  • General discussion

Minutes

Recording on Zoom: [1]

Participants: B. Moffit, P. King, R. Fair, R. Michaels, S. Chatterjee, S. Tarafdar, K. Dehmelt, C. Ghosh, D. Armstrong, R. Conaway, M. Gericke, W. Li

  • Bob presented an update on behalf of Simona
    • Simona has an LED+PMT trigger going into the FADC. The trigger is formed externally and input the to TI.
  • Bob also presented the status of the digital BCM readout
    • He has an RF source, digital receiver, and a fiber-to-TTL translator to input into the CAEN V2495
  • Discussing the equipment for Stonybrook
    • Bill Li will send me shipping information for the VME crate. For the smaller modules we'll have an offline discussion of how to collect them and get them to him
  • Chandan and Zeke have started to do a latency scan with the 35 foot HDMI cable length; they found a latency of 21 with a NIM trigger formation. They have had to give the GEM test stand back to SBS to test their modules, and will be able to get back after SBS is finished.
    • Bill also asks if it would be useful to bring the SBU GEM to the JLab test stand. He and Chandan will discuss.
  • David mentions that a quick look at the long HDMI cables data shows the signal amplitude is being decreased. More study of the data is needed.
  • Taking about rack layouts and power requirements
    • David says that the GEM rotator linear actuators will need to have controllers in the GEM racks. He's not sure of the space needs yet.
    • The actual rotator motor will also need controllers in the GEM racks. He also doesn't have details yet.
  • Michael shows one of the five new bases which Jie has just assembled.
    • A question from Jie: what is the input impedance of the FADC? We think it is 50ohm, but will check and get that info to Michael and Jie. That is relevant for what is the actual gain of the amplifier.
      • David checked an online manual, and that does report they have 50ohm input impedance.
