Discovered that original bench studies (rectangular scint, 2 fibres only) used 90% reflectivity mylar; results markedly improved when 99% reflectivity mylar was used instead. Next prototype will try using carbide powder to make surface diffuse. Carl suggest trying a diffuse reflector such as Tyvek (he has a roll in his office) and leaving optically flat scintillator surface. Suggested that Rakitha order two trapeziodal prototypes next. # (Rakitha) Scintillator frame has only been slightly modified from earlier version which used light guide readout; will send latest CAD to Chandika to incorporate in Rotator design. |
