- (Kate) Kent had raised a concern that the inner bore of the Sieve (and Blocker) in remoll was too large, and would let events that passed outside of collimator outer radius through the main collimator. It turns out that the default version of remoll does not have the sieve and blocker dimensions (and location) correct, and that indeed the inner bore there is too large compared to the Kate/Vassu design (this latter is what MIT engineering designed and we have had built). Kate had put in a pull requested to get correct geometry into remoll, but there were communication issues, and it hasn't happened yet. Kate will contact Rakitha and Ciprian to act as reviewers so the pull request can be implemented. Meanwhile, we should run some beam-generator on lH2 simulations, with the blocker in, and with virtual main detectors activated to ensure that we are not getting unanticipated "leak-through" at the main detectors. Kate will check with Kent to ensure that we have the correct virtual detectors implemented, to compare with beam-line background simulations run previously by Prakash.
- (Kate) Evan Jackson now has macros to generate remoll simulations using Buddhika's distorted field maps, for 12C (pass 1,2, and 3) as well as Mollers lH2 (pass 5); no sieve rotations yet (this will come later). Some issue using Vassu's script to automatically fit the GEM-image ellipses in the the case of pass 1, since some of those hole images are not in the GEM acceptance, but the script requires a fixed number of hole images. Will either work on modifying the script, or perhaps ask Vassu for his earlier script which uses rectangular boxes for the hole pattern search.
