Minutes
- David and Hanjie had discussion with Vassu about how to check 12C elastic kinematics for simulated events, as a way to cut out radiated events.
- Tyler is working on C++ implementation of our matrix fitting code (present version is in python). Wants (as Kate had suggested) to make it as modular as possible so folks can work on it with independent studies. Will give an update on the organizational choices at next meeting, and will seek comments/suggestions.
- Bill Li - his student, Daijon James, is working on extracting the hits in each GEM layer for the realistic GEMS in remoll. Need a numbering scheme for hit (plane/sector?) Daijon will then work on smearing the hits. Need to decide if that is best done in remoll, or in post-processor. SBU will be hosting a MYSQL server to store GEM information (such as efficiency map, high voltages, etc.) Should discuss with Paul King about broader database needs for hardware/analysis.
- Bill is looking into the SBS GEM simulation and tracking code to see what aspects we might want to use for MOLLER counting mode.
- Bill notes that the SBU and UVA GEMs will be slightly different, related the ribs in the spacer frames different vendors and fabrication procedures here. Shouldn't cause real physics response differences, but possibility of gas flow differences (which then could feed to efficiency differences). How should we choose which GEMs to populate where in Rotator? David suggests as much as possible, same "brand" of GEMs in each layer, so individual sectors look the same, to the degree possible. Of course, can't do two layers of UVA GEMs and two layers of SBU GEMs simply because only 11 production GEMs will be from SBU.
