Minutes

  1. (David for Chandika): Static FEA analysis of options with 4 adjusting feet, or 3 adjusting feet. Either option looks OK, but 3 leg option has some "left"-"right" asymmetry in deflections. After discussion, best option for purposes of survey/alignment would be three alignment feet, but with one leg (downstream end) at center, under beamline, and underneath front beam two feet, equally spaced. Chandika will try this option. Ryan and Mark have both said that the "feet" can extend a little further (cm?) in the Z-direction than the wheel mounting plates, allowing us to go back to the earlier GEM spacings in Z. For example, there is a 7.5 inch separation between the downstream face of the barite wall and the upstream face of the GEM rotator wheel, and if the downstream foot is in the center, there should be no interference with the downstream scanner hardware. Seismic analysis will be done as well.
  2. (Vladimir): should make sure that weight of cables and connectors are included in weight estimate for Rotator wheel.
  3. (Ryan): should do modal analysis of the full Rotator (wheel + stand), to look for worrisome low-frequency modes (<10 Hz) for stability.
  4. (KK): next week we will revisit the meeting day/time for these meetings for next semester.
