Minutes

  1. Ryan B.
    • Ryan asks if we can make the six Al ribs that support the pion donut thicker (at present is 1/2"), Ryan would prefer 3/4" or 1". Initial reaction is that would be OK, would be a relatively small increase in the fraction of the azimuth that the ribs intercept. David will check, in the latest pion detector simulations with detectors embedded in the donut, if we "see" the effect of scattering from the present ribs. Some discussion of possibility of cutting holes in the ribs, to reduce the total material the scattered beam would see.
    • It was suggested not to weld the ribs to the donut.
    • Suggested that we run a modal analysis of the donut/support (to be ready for spectrometer PDR).
  2. Larry B.
    • Updates on FEA for stand for main detector. Discussion of possibility of hexapod-style support.
  3. Can we get to 60% (for PDR of this new detector mounting concept) by mid summer? KK will be away much of May.
