    • Chandan: discrepancy with Nilanga's channel count docDB 683_page12-13

  • Follow-up on discrepancy between Chandan's and Nilanga's channel count: Chandan had used the dimensions in the CDR, which are out-of-date and a little larger than current. Using the current dimensions resolves the discrepancy in channel count. There will be 1280 channels per module.
  • Data rate estimate discussion
    • Bryan says that the data suppression is done in the SSP rather than in the MPD. The links from MPD to SSP can support 1Gb/s.
      • Based on the calculations in DocDB 685, we'd currently expect ~0.65 Gb/s from each MPD (for 3 samples per trigger at 7kHz trigger rate)
      • Bryan mentions that they are working to get 2 Gb/s links from MPD to SSP for SBS
    • Chandan reminds us that the data from the MPDs includes headers, although these are a smaller fraction compared to the actual samples
    • Open question about occupancy
      • Chandan reported that the PREX GEM modules had about 8-9 strips above pedestal for each track (total for both X and Y planes in the module)
      • Chandan will check in simulation what the particle rate at the GEM modules will be
  • Developing the DAQ design
    • Bob reminds us that the preliminary design review milestone is mid-March, with the counting mode DAQ design to be complete in June.
    • Bob will be in charge of defining the reviews
    • Expect that the review will take ~1/2 day
