  • priority list: light guide light generation
    • first Cameron will reproduce NIM paper (https://arxiv.org/pdf/1710.07100.pdf) results and see the effect of background Cherenkov radiation from electrons going thru the light cone
    • will test different reflectivity materials in the simulation
    • materials for light guide reflection surface will be aluminum-based material. Dustin has already measured reflectivity.
    • The goal is to complete this in a couple of weeks.
    • Comments:
      • The lead shielding will cover the PMT front, back, and sides.
      • David K would like to have a copy of the CAD design of the detector stack
      • David K: Someone should understand the issues that Hall D had with their reflectors degrading.
      • Jim F: if the substrate is transparent and the Al on the outside you don't have to worry about oxidation, but I don't think that will work here unless that mirror is actually part of the quarts bar - which would make that bar pretty expensive to build. But we should think this through. Passivation of aluminum can be pretty delicate. There is actually a MIL-SPEC process that is a bit more robust. I spent a good deal of time looking at reflector for the BELLE iTOP mirrors. If we could figure out how to ``aluminize a region of the quartz for the primary mirror reflector that would certainly be a more robust reflector over time, but I don't see how to do that.
      • Michael G: Should optimize the light guide geometry especially the bend angle
  • Envelopes update
    • Up to collar 2 is already given to engineers (Sandesh Gopinath). Chandan showed the 2D slices at different z locations up to collar number 2 after the drift tube. Sandesh Gopinath will generate CAD diagrams based on these envelopes.
    • at the collar z location, we will install LAM (large angle monitor) detectors
    • Comments:
      • Jim F: The geometry would have to be set up so that a single scatter on the "mirror" is in the quartz. It would be useless otherwise. As I say, I don't see how to do this. The motivation is people can put very good Al on quartz and if the reflective surface is on the quartz, not in the air, it is very stable and robust.
